The trip being made by #PrinceWilliam and his wife Kate Middleton is creating some waves in the English speaking Caribbean, starting off with the indigenous people in Belize, causing the Royal couple to cancel one stop off of their itinerary. However, these people have a legitimate issue. They want Prince William’s company to let go of their land that he owns under a private company. But, if he bought it or it is a part of Crown Land, it is part of the system we have in the Western World regardless of whether or William is Royalty or not.
Then we have the Jamaicans, who are still pissy and salty that Barbados became a Republic before them and ditched William’s grandmother. They thought they were better because they were trading on Bob Marley and Usain Bolt and the Mona UWI Campus all of these years. LOLZ!
Jamaica has some hooligan running off at the mouth about reparations and colonialism and plotting a protest for the Prince’s arrival, like William knows about what his great, great, great, great, grandparents did to get these islands in the sun. Stop acting stupid now. The man came on behalf of his Grandmother to celebrate her birthday, let the man do his job.
Then we have the Bahamas, who we thought was going to be the respectable jurisdiction out of the bunch, but even now they too are set to air their dirty laundry in the public square as one activist is plotting to have a protest on domestic violence and sexual assault against Bahamian women so the Prince could see. Quite a nifty trick, I guess anything to bring awareness to the major social issue of the day in the country outside of the murders.
Everyone is just showing off now. While we understand your issues, some of your issues are within your power to resolve, even for the land issue in Belize. If the government really wanted the indigenous people to have their land back they would be getting it back. Prince William don’t need that, so if the government presses him they would stand a good chance of getting it back.
Jamaicans are just being snooty little nuisances now. The Barbados Republic thing really got their elites pissed off. Never knew it hurt them that much. Your government could ask for the same thing Barbados did, you guys are smart enough, so get it done.
But for The Bahamas, do we really need to let the Royal family know we beat and rape our women here? Isn’t there something we can do here to put an end to this abuse? If not then we really should be ashamed. Criminalize marital rape and increase penalties for sexual assault. It is just that simple.
