Caribbean Magazine Plus wishes our Indian brother and sisters around the region a very happy Diwali. Our humble editor of this magazine knew nothing about the Festival of Lights until this year. To be totally honest. It is a not an Afro-Caribbean observance and quite frankly, we had no reason to want to know about it.
But, thanks to our partner and contributor for sharing some insights into how important it is to the Hindu population in the region. In Trinidad they will have a week of performances and we would assume that the same would be in Guyana and Suriname, or at least some significant celebration in the other highly concentrated Hindu populations in the region.
We wish our brothers and sisters a happy and peaceful Diwali. From CMP!
