The chairman of Digicel has joined forces with the CARICOM on its Reparations Committee, but is it worth it in the end?
What does that white man know that we don’t? He doesn’t need to, it’s not as if the company doesn’t have market share on mobile networks. Does he sit at the other table where he sees here the bigshots are beginning to acquiesce to the notion of reparations for us black Caribbean people? Is that cheque coming to us?
Not so fast my greedy little reader. Because I would submit that if any reparations cheque comes your way, which is a long shot, your earthly lords and masters will get the bulk of that and you will still be poor, under-educated, sick and pissed off.
You see? The average person does not have control of their parliamentarian of even their senior level public servant. So when the discussions are taking place about how big the cheque is going to be and where to send it, just think about your run of the mill politician and ask yourself have they been trustworthy towards the little you have given them to manage on your behalf? If you have to think more than 10 seconds about that then you know full well the answer. LOL…
But, let’s turn the conversation towards you: Are you worth a reparations cheque? Are you worthy of a cheque of any significant amount that would change your life and put balm on the hurt, humiliation and emotional drain slavery has done to you? I would say many of us are not worthy of that even though we may want it and feel we are deserving of it.
Just think about it, look at your neighbour and examine them. Not examine yourself because we know you are too good for any of these bad things “they” do. *rolls eyes* That same neighbour that can barely read and write, drinks and smokes his paycheque out every weekend, steals from and abuses their spouse and spend every waking moment praising these degenerate Black Caesars or whoring behind the last remnants of the Caucasian colonial masters who really couldn’t give a flying fuck about you other than how long they can keep you as a worker on the peppercorn wages they have provided for you. Is a person that I have just described worthy of freedom, or do they like their mental slavery? They probably don’t even have a prayer life either, huh? Yup. I know these people.
You are not fit yet for any significant help or to be redeemed from the punishment the God Almighty has allowed you to endure. You have allowed the punishment and rebuke to turn into abuse and have let it eat away at your psyche. You have allowed it to poison you and you have poisoned the seed after you. The poison of dysfunction, whoremongering, sloth and idolatry. (Why does it feel like I’m preaching?)
Long story short: Get your act together and show yourself worthy of respect for reparations and maybe we may make some progress.
