If successful, the government’s new Job Vacancy Survey will yield tremendous results for both employers and jobseekers, in addition to helping inform universities and other training institutions throughout the nation. This is according to the CEO of a regional recruitment service, who said his organization is looking forward to the survey’s success.
“For many businesses and jobseekers, the recruitment and job hunt process can feel like shooting in the dark,” said Joseph Boll, Caribbean Employment Services Inc. CEO. “In fact, this is actually one of the reasons our organization formed, to help bridge the gap and make the recruitment process easier and faster for both sides.”
Caribbean Employment Services Inc. is a market-leading digital talent acquisition service that aims to connect the top talent from the Caribbean with hiring managers, HR professionals and decision-makers in companies both within the Caribbean as well as abroad. Further, it aims to provide the region’s jobseekers and those who are already employed with news and resources related to Caribbean labour.
Boll continued, “The Job Vacancy Survey could take things beyond that, because it is being conducted by the government, which has a wider reach than private organizations like ours. This could certainly help give far more detail about vacancies, and in turn help businesses, training institutions and jobseekers to understand exactly where more targeted efforts need to be made.”
The CEO noted that often, HR professionals and the labour market may have a hunch about which sectors or occupations may be more high-in-demand, or which positions may be more difficult to fill in general. However, he said having concrete data and figures that show exact degrees to which vacancies exist could be a game changer in helping to save time and expend effort on the right undertakings.
Further, Boll commended the government’s commitment to conducting Job Vacancy Surveys on a much more frequent basis, as labour market trends can change dramatically in even a short period of time — not to mention when there are intense, unexpected global economic developments such as the COVID-19 pandemic, rising inflation and recessions that could likely strike this year.
“Caribbean Employment Services Inc. looks forward to the success of these surveys, and commends the government for taking initiative to help improve employment and the Trinidadian labour market,” Boll said. “As always, our organization is happy to help businesses or jobseekers who are looking for the best match for open roles.”
