On this Valentine’s Day, the day of love, we must be reminded that love takes courage. Indeed, it takes a great deal to love someone who has hurt you, is hurting you and does not have the capacity or inclination to love you back, but you do it anyway.
God’s eyes are upon us and we must reflect his perfect will for our lives and display the characteristics of his only begotten son, Jesus Christ. That means we have to love the sinner and everyone else.
This is what the world needs now, more love and compassion for one another. Love would not let Haiti run itself and its people to ruin. Love also would not continue a war in the Ukraine. Love would allow people entering into the US by the border the right to be treated like decent human beings.
Love is open and free, not divisive and callous. We must free ourselves from the prisons of our egos and self-righteousness and get back to love. No matter the heartache and the disappointment we have to summon the courage to love and love more than we did before. It takes courage and it hurts, but love is the only thing we have to hold on to if we want to live in a world of peace and happiness.
Don’t give up on love. I encourage you to love more!
