Tracey Williams is a Barbadian Artist born August 20th 1965. After Graduation she gained valuable experience in the graphic arts joining the company of Cot Printery Ltd., followed by Pronto Marketing and Printing Brokers and finally went on to join the family owned business Landmark Nurseries.
In 1995 Tracey pursued her lifelong ambition of being an artist, she had the opportunity and privilege to train and work in the studios of Alison Chapman-Andrews and to be an apprentice of the renowned Stanley Greaves. Through this experience she found her own philosophy and developed and refined her technical skills.
She held her first solo exhibition in 1999 entitled ‘In the beginning there were flowers’ at the Queens Park Gallery and later followed with ‘Flowers’ in 2002 and ‘Secret Garden’ in 2008.
The artist diversity is in the medium of acrylic and oil; her strength is demonstrated in the flower paintings for which she is known. In addition, she has created paintings directly from models. Williams’ work has a magical romantic spiritual element with an erotic under current.
Tracey then made a natural transition to incorporating floral with landscapes utilising a mixed media technique with beautiful over tones of colour.
Williams’ work is in private collections island wide as well as in the Central Bank of Barbados. She is the recipient of the Governor of Central Bank Award on two occasions and has been commissioned by several collectors to produce art work for them.
Tracey followed her dreams and aspirations and now is the co-owner of a retail store called the Art Hub Barbados, Inc. Her growth and potential was further enhanced by becoming a trained and certified Golden Artist Educator for the American owned company Golden Artist Colours Inc. She now represents the product in Barbados developing artist through demonstrations, workshops and teaching.
