After a tragedy, or severe trauma, and after we have settled back to normal, we as human beings tend to forget the problems we all shared as a collective and slowly and disappointingly slink back into our old habits, whatever those habits are. Some of us fall back into laziness, some into callousness and others into meanness and low tolerance for those in need around us.
How can you think more highly of me when just under two years ago I saw you bury your loved one and nearly watched you die, hooked up to a ventilator? How did I see this? Because I was in the bed right next to you.
Human beings tend to not understand what the meaning of true charity is. Sometimes it is hard for us to understand that some of us are in need and need help. Really need help.
I’m asking you for this Christmas season to step outside of yourself and give yourself this year. It does not even need to be money all the time. Your time or an encouraging word when it is needed is all it takes. Get into a habit of doing it because good vibes spread.
Don’t even let these wars and economic difficulties distract you into thinking you don’t have time or focus, because there never is a good time to do something good. Doing good deeds have no time frame, just like trouble always finds its way to your doorstep when you least expect it.
Just reach down, dig deep, and step into a good place and remember where you have come from and had it not been for our Lord and Saviour, neither of us would be here.
