The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) extends warmest congratulations to the Government and People of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana on the celebration of their Fifty-Eighth Anniversary of Independence.
Guyana, a land of rich heritage, diverse cultures, and flourishing ecosystems, has had a remarkable journey since attaining its Independence. Indeed, Guyana has emerged as a leading and visionary voice on the international stage, tackling issues such as climate change, global peace and security, human rights, energy security, and inclusive development. Guyana has effectively led the charge on the critical area of regional food and nutrition security, for which it has lead responsibility in the CARICOM Quasi-Cabinet.
Guyana’s recent able chairmanship of the United Nations Security Council underscores the strength and impact of small states, such as those of CARICOM.
Further, despite threats to its territorial integrity, Guyana has demonstrated continued commitment to the principles of peaceful resolution and respect for international law. As host country of the Secretariat, Guyana plays a vital role in strengthening regional bonds and fostering collaboration.
The Community extends its deep gratitude for your unwavering dedication as current Chairman of the Conference of Heads of Government. As you celebrate this milestone, we extend best wishes to the Government and People of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, for a peaceful, sustainable and prosperous future.”
