By now everyone has heard about the unfortunate incident that happened to former US President Donald J Trump while he was speaking at a campaign rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania.
Thankfully, the bullet whizzed past his ear and he was not mortally wounded. Had he not turned his head at the right time, he would have gotten a direct hit and we would be having a totally different conversation and the world would be completely different right now.
One man was killed in the assassination attempt and two others injured. Our prayers go out to the families of the other victims as well.
People of the Caribbean do not want a destabilized America under any circumstance. We do not know what would have happened if Trump would have been killed this past Saturday. But it any indication from the January 6, 2021 capitol hill attacks, we can’t run anything out.
As Trump nears closer to recapturing the US presidency, a lot of people are becoming very antsy and are willing to do anything for any number of reasons. Their warped mindset is a stark reminder of the fallen world we live in.
In case we need a reminder of what political assassinations can do to a country, all we have to do is look at Haiti and be very concerned if Donald Trump had been assassinated and the “people” were behind him.
The shooter was killed on the spot. As the investigation unfolds, we will learn more about his background and motives.
Let us continue to pray for peace in the political landscape in the US.
