How many times will the Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, turn the police on his own people? And over what? People protesting for better wages?
C’mon Mr Skerrit, it is not that serious. It is never that serious. We remember when Skerrit’s police had punched a man in the face after nearly running the man over with their vehicle.
We also remember when the Dominica police shot a man, point blank, with what we later found to be a rubber bullet, but at the time it was quite shocking. Particularly when the victim was in a state of retreat.
This cannot be the practice in Dominica. We always thought of Dominica as a tiny, peaceful Caribbean country. There is no need for all of this vitriol.
Calm down, Mr Skerrit. It looks foolish to people on the outside looking in.
Now, the Truckers in the present protest are a bit rowdy. But they are not attacking any innocent people in the streets. Yes, there is some discomfort for motorists , but you don’t have to tear-gas people. That is utter madness.
We pray for a solution to the truckers issue in Dominica.
Skerrit should be held and tried for treason.
