The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) has announced the dates, time, and place of this year’s Taste of the Caribbean event.
It will take place from November 18-20 at Florida International University’s Kovens Conference Center, which is located in Miami, Florida, in the United States—not on a Caribbean island.
Taste of the Caribbean is the top cultural and food event in the region. It combines friendly competition with training sessions, helping food and beverage professionals improve their skills and grow their businesses.
This year, teams from Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Bonaire, Puerto Rico, Turks & Caicos, St. Lucia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands will join in.
Vanessa Ledesma, CHTA’s CEO, says the event is a great chance for chefs to learn, connect, and support the growth of Caribbean cuisine globally. Chefs can attend workshops, learn from experts, and keep up with the latest food trends.
The 2024 competition includes chefs like:
– **Antigua & Barbuda**: Senior Chef Ronald Wilson from Blue Waters Resort & Spa and Junior Chef Azarie Crump.
Since 1993, Taste of the Caribbean has brought together the region’s best chefs to compete, showcase skills, and share with the public the finest Caribbean foods. It’s a place for food professionals to learn, connect with suppliers, and try new products.
The three-day event ends with the Taste of the Caribbean Awards, celebrating top talent. Awards include Caribbean Chef of the Year, Junior Chef of the Year, Bartender of the Year, Pastry Chef of the Year, and the National Team of the Year.
