EDITORIAL: Let’s hope Sara is the last of the storms

November 22, 2024

The Hurricane season officially comes to an end on November 30. That is next week Saturday. We are going out with a troubling tropical storm Sara drowning Central America in inches of water.

All in all, it has not been a terribly awful hurricane season. Yes, we had a few storms that touched down, but all in all, we did not have a serious of category-5 storms the strength of Dorian smashing through our Caribbean. God was with us.

We have to keep in prayer the people of Central America as they try to pick the pieces up of their countries from tropical storm Sara.

There was one death from Sara, and our thoughts and prayers are with their families.

As the climate challenge continues to bear down on us, unfortunately we will continue to hear about more casualties, I am afraid.

But we can build strong to mitigate against the ravages of these storms. Climate finance is a real thing. And small developing states in the Caribbean and Central America should be the primary recipients of any funding allocation for climate change mitigation.
