EDITORIAL: Can we ever win against the drug lords?

March 14, 2025

It seems as if we will never be able to win against the scourge of drug trafficking. It has damaged so many lives and ruined so much of our social fabric that it has changed our fruitful trajectory to one of an abyss of routine melancholy and underperformance.

The worst thing about all of this is that it has a violent current that is part and parcel of the trade. Some of the cartels have more intelligence and weaponry than the central government’s do at time, this is the case in many parts of Mexico.

The thing is the demand for drugs is heavy in America and Europe. These people are medicated out of their minds, daily. They can’t manage their own socio-system and are struggling to come to grips with the life they have been blessed with.

Removing the demand will not happen overnight. It did not start over night. It was years of conditioning into the rat-race that has the human spirit wound up with emotional diseases like envy, greed and malice. These emotional diseases eat away at the soul and human spirit. One would need to medicate to forget the horrendous things one has done and has been subjected to.

May God help us to treat each other better.
