Well, there goes all of the well-wishing we had for US President Joe Biden. His latest move- in that of mandating quarantine for all persons coming into America- will hurt the Caribbean and all tourism dependent countries greatly.
There goes the three day quick trip to an island. There goes vacation plans, changed just like that. No one wants to vacation to come back home to a lockdown when they have work the next morning. If the mandatory quarantine is more than a week, kiss the vacation plans for the tropics goodbye!
The sad thing is, it had to be done for America. The truth is we will just have to bear it. If his predecessor would have done it, it would have been the same thing- We would be awe struck. Gobsmacked!
In any event, we must weather the storm. We have gotten through a whole year, most of us, on full lockdown, curfews and restricted movement, so we can surely get through another few months of dependency.
The sad thing is, the COVID-19 is raging in the United States. There are over 410k deaths with 27m infected since the start of the pandemic. It must be stopped. It is shameful that the most powerful country in the world is lagging the world in dealing with this. America has lost some lustre to me. Truly!
With that said, we must stand by our friends. Our protectors and in many respects, our benefactors.
