The La Soufriere volcano started to smoke and erupt on Thursday evening in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) prompting government to raise the alert level to red and evacuating the area immediately surrounding.
Evacuations took place Thursday evening as footage shows cars lined up trying to get out of the red-zone as well as footage showing persons trying to board a ferry in an attempt to get out of the way of the blast.
There was significant traffic congestion earlier this evening at MT Young Georgetown, St. Vincent as residents evacuate.
Scientist have gone on record saying that is the volcano goes from being effusive to explosive that residents in the surrounding area have less than 48 hours to get to safety.
The eruptions at La Soufriere is happening almost to the exact date of the last explosive eruption in April 13, 1979, called the Good Friday eruption.
Scientists were getting increased signs and signals that the volcano was going to blow four days ago as earthquakes around the area increases significantly, warning them that the volcano may reach an explosive state sometime soon- and the soon happens to be right now.
No one has been reported injured up to this time, but authorities are organising an orderly evacuation of the surrounding areas.
