It seems as if the world was rushing to reopen to make a few dollars but the COVID-19 virus had other ideas, it is mutating and bursting through the vaccines.
People who are vaccinated against the virus can still catch it and spread it, the only thing is they are a lot less likely to die from it. But, I ask, how long before the virus mutates again and starts to burst through the known viruses and put more people in the morgue?
With all of these into consideration, the Tokyo Olympics started off today with the grand ceremony with no fans in attendance. How grand is that? Athletic competition without spectators is really a low point in human life. No athlete wants to compete without people watching them in the flesh, live. Television does not do it justice, although it is a good consolation.
Athletes love the roar of the crowd, much like politicians and musicians. They want to feel the crowd get involved. It hypes them up. How will the 1,500 meters be when a guy is closing the gap and there is no crowd there to cheer him on to take the lead 200 meters from the finish line?
That’s just for sport. What about the other countries who began to open up in hopes that the worst was behind them? From Europe to the Caribbean, countries have begun to shut down again and put people on restrictions. We cannot operate like this. The vaccination is of little help if not enough people are vaccinated and people want to continue business simultaneously. This is the touchy point. The “in betweens” is what I call moments like these, right in the middle of the solution during the height of the problem. How do you balance the fix while all of the gears are moving?
We can’t operate like this. 2021 may as well be another year we sit it out. If your bills and responsibilities can’t understand what time we are in then screw them.
It is what it is…Every meaningful institution will be there when this disease is really behind us. I can assure you of that.
