Certifications are what is needed for this award winning Jamaican company to break the United States, Brazil and wider Caribbean markets with their Lifesavers Wipes, says its team lead.

Georgia Crawford, team lead at Lifesavers Wipes, told Caribbean Magazine Plus that the company is also eyeing urinary tract infection (UTI) wipes for senior citizens after its success with the Lifesavers Wipes for people with diabetes. “This is big, because it will change elderly care and how we look after hospitalised patients, because the statistics for those who have UTIs in those categories are alarming because they don’t verbalize their symptoms. Then most times when we find out it is too late and by then it is already affecting their kidneys.”

This businesswoman and mother believes in helping people with their health related problems and it is  where she finds her joy and as the company grows, she is taking the brand to other markets by the end of this year. “We want to be in at least three markets by the end of the year. We know this might be something that is difficult or is an audacious goal, because anything that you’re doing it needs testing and our product needs testing for stability for at least three to six months and those who we are partnering with would have to do the stability testing for that time.

“But once one person certifies you then you are out there and it will be the certification that will allow us to enter these three markets by the end of the year. We want to enter the wider Caribbean market, the United States market and the Brazil market.”

She added once the company can get the strategic partnerships that can get their brand and our product into the hands of those who need it most she would feel accomplished. “We are deeply into that and we are getting some attention from some international industry players.”

The Company is already breaking barriers in the healthcare field as Lifesavers Wipes won best new global product and top prize in global innovations for 2019-2021 at the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) held at the Miami Beach Convention Centre in the United States at the end of March.

Ms Crawford said about winning the award, “I feel so blessed by the achievements and we knew we had a good product, once we did it right. We knew it was a good idea and once we started working on it and we started getting it right we also knew we had a good product, but we wouldn’t be at the stage where we would be meeting million dollar entities as it relates to the industry and coming from where we are we are as a tiny company with limited resources, we are even more limited in our resources as the individuals.”

Despite the big dreams and heavy workload with limited resources, Ms Crawford credits her support team of family members and friends who have all pitched in to make Lifesavers Wipes the success that it is. In no way does she want to portray herself as this stand-alone, independent Black woman because it just is not true. She thanks her husband, sisters, brothers, cousins and teammates with helping to build the brand together. “I want to emphasize to young women the importance of support. It is unfortunate that we are now living in this insular era where independence is being defined as going it alone. This is not so, there are no superwomen only supported-women.”
