Members of the CARICOM Secretariat Staff Association and their families travelled to Suriname, one of the Community’s Member States, over the Easter weekend. During the visit, the sixty-two individuals took advantage of the opportunity to give back to the local community.
Donations of one thousand United States Dollars (USD1000) each were made to two deserving organisations in Suriname. The first was to the Kennedy Foundation, an organisation that provides accommodation and schooling for children between the ages of four to twenty who are deaf or have hearing disabilities. The donation was gratefully received by Director, Ms. Welzijn-Overeem.
The second donation was made to Huize Ashiana, a senior living home with 230 residents. The Association was honored to present the donation to the Director, Brenda van Daal, who expressed her gratitude for the contribution.
The Association’s members were pleased to have had the opportunity to visit Suriname and support these two organisations that are making a positive impact in the lives of their communities.
The Staff Association noted that the donations were an indication of their commitment to service. They hope to continue supporting communities in the Region.
