The deadline for the CMP Short Story Contest was this past Monday. But our editorial board has decided to extend the deadline to February 14. Reason being is that we had more than a few requests for an extension because they just saw the flier on our website or on social media.
WE extended the deadline last year as well. We don’t really like to grant the extension, partly because we have other things to move on to and a contest lingering out there lags us behind. But we can understand some people have not had a chance to see the flier, so we can work with the few stragglers.
Other than that we have, from what we have seen, some excellent entries. Some of our brothers and sisters really have talent. Prolific in their writing and we can’t wait to see who comes out on top.
We have entries from Puerto Rico, The Bahamas, Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad just to name a few. There are a few others, but we don’t want to name all of them. We just want people to remain encouraged by the process and look forward with anticipation for when the winning entries are announced.
Last year the top three finishers had a session marked for them at the CARICON Literary Conference in Los Angeles California. Quite a treat for them. We will also put the best entries in a book, as we did the first contest.
So, work with Caribbean Magazine Plus as we try to engage everyone in the Caribbean and Central American region.
