It’s about time Eric Williams, former Prime Minister of Trinidad, is getting his jus due. Eighty years after he published his work on slavery and capitalism in British history was banned from being published in Great Britain, they have finally decided to publish it. Goes to show you racism went beyond America.
I don’t understand how people have put racism all on America, but I guess America puts it on themselves with its overt assassination of black people and their obscene hatred of Latinos from across the Southern border.
Europe has an obvious history with slavery and racism that should not be glossed over. I’m glad for research and historical perspective they have allowed Williams’s book to be published and seen by this generation so they can have some context.
Williams was a brilliant man from all accounts I have examined. With that being said, what else have Europeans and Americans suppressed from the world because the author/originator was black? Makes you think, huh?
Well, with the advent of social media and the like, hiding the shining lights under a bowl is becoming harder and harder. With the number of blogs, vlogs and avenues for self-publishing, there is nothing the establishment can do to suppress anyone anymore.
I plan to find the Williams book and read it for myself just for posterity.
