EDITORIAL: Everyone just needs to chill out!

So we have it now that just as soon as Royal Caribbean Cruise Line announced they would be resuming sailing, they have just announced they would be cancelling all of their sailings into June of this year. This is kind of confusing because they said also that they would be homeporting in The Bahamas starting in June and we know that the Centres for Disease Control in the US did not give them the go ahead to sail, so what is all of the posturing about?

In any event, I don’t know why these cruise lines and everyone else won’t just allow the medical professionals and scientists find a workable solution to this COVID-19 and until that time, just chill out and settle down. There is no need to be scrambling all over the place doing this and doing that. We will get back to normal some time and until that time whatever you needed to do or think you needed to do can wait. It’s been waiting for this long.

Everyone is being forced to wait. Your landlord, your banker, your employer, your shareholder, just about everyone is being forced to wait. So, we may as well do so patiently until we get over this and do our best to encouraging the medical professionals and scientists to do a good job on our behalf.

I’m seeing people all in a rush to have parties at this time, like this is not a global pandemic. I know of a young lady who just had to have her birthday party at the height of the pandemic, and her need to party helped to close the doors of that resort and the tourism industry along with it. Even though the tourism industry closure was bound to happen in almost all Caribbean countries, that party was the last straw for the government in The Bahamas- and she had no sorrows, no regrets and no understanding of what her actions and behaviour caused.

Human beings really are selfish and self-centred. It really is a pity.
