Former Premier of the British Virgin Islands, Andrew Fahie, faced with another blow to his cocaine trafficking case in the US when his co-defendants both changed their plea from not-guilty to guilty. This would make Mr Fahie’s claim of getting out of this jam much more difficult.
You see, while Fahie was given bond and is currently living with his daughter in Miami as a condition of his bond, his co-defendants, Ms Oleavine Maynard and her son, Kadeem Maynard, were not so lucky to be bonded out and had to stay in US Federal custody. That alone would make me change my please because I’m sure they were not prepared to sit in a federal facility while Ms Fahie gets to enjoy awaiting trial on the outside. Many a man would have turned state’s evidence on much less.
The US federal government was leaning on the Maynard’s to turn on Fahie and while he thought he was being treated like an important VIP for being left out, it was all a trap to get the Maynard’s feeling some type of way and eventually accepting a plea deal to turn on Fahie. So, Fahie chose the short-term please and comfort to the overall war. But, such is the case of some of these people.
By any stretch, fighting the US Federal government is not easy. They have over a 90 percent conviction rate even without the plea deals. It is a very tough climb for Fahie to get himself out of this sling. We offer our prayers for him because we don’t see any way out for him. All we have are thoughts and prayers.
