EDITORIAL: Is SpaceX worth the trouble for the pollution?

March 11, 2025

The Bahamas and SpaceX have entered into a historic deal where the first time in recorded history, a rocket will launch from oen country and land in another country. This is the space tourism boost The Bahamas got from SpaceX.

But, as the SpaceX rockets start to come apart, they are beginning to litter the Bahamas with their debris.

The second such rocket fell apart last week, less than three months after the first one came apart over Bahamian waters.

So far, SpaceX has more failed missions over The Bahamas than they have had successful ones.

Is this all worth it? To damage the environment?

I don’t think the debris will be the end of Bahamian marine life. We just have to be diligent in clearing it away. In fact, ensure SpaceX’s billionaire owner, Elon Musk, cleans up his debris.

This partnership The Bahamas has with SpaceX is good in the long run.
