EDITORIAL: Justice for Chantel

March 18, 2025

The horrific murder of Chantel Crump in Antigua and Barbuda is absolutely saddening. Seeing her photos and watching some of her videos has touched a spot in our heart for the babies and how desperately they need protection.

Chantel could not have done anything to deserve to be murdered and found in bushes days after going missing.

The suspect in her murder is set to head to court in June after being remanded. The suspect claims that there is a real suspect in the murder and it is not her, but have yet to show any true evidence that someone else was involved. Even so, she is an accessory to the crime for all of what she has said already.

Apparently, the suspect, is an immigrant in the country illegally. This would be enough to start riots outside of the jailhouse and courthouse in an attempt to get their hands on the suspect.

But, we have to find a way to not let Chantel’s murder go to waste. I’m not sure if there is an early alert system for missing children in Antigua, but now may be a time to have such an alert system.

Our prayers are with Chantel’s family during this time.
