Now that Hurricane Milton is now in the middle of the Atlantic now. Let us now thank God that it was not as bad as it was reported to have been. It could have been much worse. It could have hovered over Florida for more than 24 hours and spun its winds of destruction for an undetermined amount of time.
As climate change becomes more and more of a reality, these storms will become more frequent and more freakish as the years go on. This is just the reality now.
Truth be told, no amount of carbon reduction and climate mitigation will solve the short term threat of violent storms. But we can make incremental steps to ensure that the following generation does not have to deal with these storms in the magnitude that we are dealing with now.
My condolences to the families of the people that lost their lives. I also pray that the workmen who are trying to get power restored to Floridians are kept safe and do their work diligently.
