So now we have another communicable threat making the rounds. The Mpox virus.
Let us hope that it is not taken lightly like the COVID-19. I remember travelling in late 2019 when the COVID-19 was starting to take shape. In fact, I remember airport and health staff in hazmat suits checking passengers as they disembarked from the airplane. Nobody knew that at that time there would be no more flights for at least a year.
Let us hope that the Mpox virus is hit at its core and there is more certainty in finding the root cause of the outbreak.
Mpox is an infectious viral disease that can occur in humans and other animals. Symptoms include a rash that forms blisters and then crusts over, fever, and swollen lymph nodes. The illness is usually mild, and most of infected individuals recover within a few weeks without treatment.
The symptoms do not sound fatal, but who wants to walk around with nasty looking rashes and swollen lymph nodes.
As these new age diseases are doing, they are morphing into more dangerous patterns of themselves. We must be mindful to keep a control of this disease and ensure that we monitor all signs and symptoms of people living through recovery to ensure that they don’t have any long term effects.
Pray for the world.
