EDITORIAL: Russia/Ukraine conflict is dragging on, sadly!

April 12, 2022

I wonder if Russia has realized yet they have walked into their new millennium Afghanistan yet? This looks like when the old Soviet Union went into Afghanistan to invade it in the 1980’s and ended up bogged down in a war they could not win, because they were fighting not only the Afghans but the Al-Queda that the US had trained and armed to expel them from Afghanistan.

This conflict in the Ukraine is not as clear cut as Russian President Vladmir Putin thinks it is. For example, if the Ukrainian President, Zelensky, can leave the country and meet with European leaders outside of the Eastern European block and also have a massive scale videoconference to the US Congress in the middle of the country’s capital being under attack, with no break in transmission in the least, then what Russia is doing is pretty weak. Because it is weak and President Putin so strong willed means that this fight may drag on for months if God does not step in and put the two sides to the table to sit down and talk about their issues.

This war is telling as well, because I didn’t know the US had that many US military installations in the Ukraine- over 10 of them doing various different things. Putin by now has bombed nearly all of them, destroyed them, which is probably one of his main objectives.

You see, now we have an understanding why Putin would want to bomb the Ukraine, above and beyond the oil and gas the Ukraine is refusing to pay for. Just to give you an example of how US installations in the Ukraine would mean to Russia, can you imagine China or Russia building military bases in Jamaica right now? Prime Minister Holness would be assassinated and all out civil war would break out in Jamaica. That’s how serious the US would take that type of friendship with either of those countries in the Western Hemisphere.

All the while hundreds of Ukrainians are being killed and displaced from their homes. God be with them!
