The region is abuzz with event after event, which is great news for everybody. This shows that there is a great need for action and dialogue on the action.
We have the Summit of the Americas, the Caribbean Development Bank is having its 52nd Annual meeting, and then we have CARICOM having a few conferences as well as continuing their virtual training series with various sectors and sub-sectors.
The way forward is through togetherness. We can’t reclaim the losses from COVID-19 and try to reclaim ground on agriculture and beat back climate change effects if we are operating in silos.
This is the great coming together than the forefathers of these respective countries could only have dreamt about, but now is happening in this season. Happening under trying circumstances, but happening it is.
We need to keep this momentum and more importantly, keep the dialogue open and transparent for all- this is the only way we can grow.
In other shocking news, the minister for the environment for the Dominican Republic was gunned down in his own office. What in the world did he do to deserve that? The news is slowly dribbling out and hopefully we would have some more information by the end of the week, but this is certainly shocking news. Seems like the island of Hispaniola has issues with their political leaders because Haitian president Moise was assassinated last year February.
We pray for peace on that island. As we come together, let us not forget the healing needed for all of us.
