EDITORIAL:  The CMP Short Story Contest has come to an end!

February 18, 2022

Dear readers, the editorial board at the Caribbean Magazine Plus wishes to thank all of those that entered into our first ever Short Story Contest that came to an end on February 15. We have quite a few entrants and as usual a few stragglers trying to squeeze their entry in at the last minute, but it could have been a lot more and as we grow, we will be most welcome to have the best writers from the region. We are blessed beyond measure to have your submissions to those that dared to enter.

The entries are now with Dr Nicola Hunte as promised and she will deliver the results in the next month or so. We endeavour to announce the winners by the second week in March, God willing.

The same format we had for our Poetry Contest we will use for the Short Story contest, in the sense that after the results are finalized, the winners will be notified by email or telephone, then we will have a short virtual award ceremony and the prizes will be paid out shortly thereafter.

We are excited to have to deliver on another event, giving artists, writers, poets and soon to come, musicians, the platform they need to share their talent with the world.

From this Short Story contest, we also endeavour to publish a book of short stories as we did with the entries for the Poetry Contest, where we compiled a book of the best entries.

Currently we have the Speech Contest ongoing, which comes to an end on April 15. We are doing this Speech Contest with the help of the District 81 Caribbean Toastmasters who have blessed us with native speakers in all of the major languages of the Caribbean and Central America- English, Spanish, French and Dutch.

We will also run the Poetry Contest again and the dates are being finalized, but it most likely will be around the same time as the first contest- between May to August, thereabouts. So please stay tuned and engaged with Caribbean Magazine Plus on our website and various social media platforms.

Thank you to all of the entrants and be patient, Dr Hunte will be completed her evaluations in no time.

Spread the love
