There is something disturbing me when I read the ECLAC report that said that the Caribbean is lagging behind everyone else on going digital and moving away from paper based applications.
We should be ashamed of ourselves, particularly the English speaking Commonwealth Caribbean countries. We have no excuse, because not only do we speak the language of the supreme world power. But we are so close to the world power that we really should have no excuse to not be considered a US State.
Fact of the matter is, we will not be able to provide for our people if we don’t go digital on almost every service, from public to private. From public utilities to banking. Our people need to get ready and either be forced to go digital or feel the sting of being left out.
We at Caribbean Magazine Plus feel the sting of the lack of being digitally savvy with the participants of our various contests- We have found that a good deal of them do not have debit cards. They want to send us wires and bank transfers. What?!
How do you not have a bank account with a debit card in 2023? That is almost standard nowadays. Your bank must get you up to speed and now. This is not me being hoity-toity or Mr Bigshot. But this is just standard stuff.
I want to encourage our readers to get into the game. Go digital.
