It is with great sadness we have to discuss the death of Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth II, the only British monarch many of us have ever known in the Commonwealth Caribbean, with her having assumed the throne on June 2, 1953 after the death of her father, King George VI.
She has been at the forefront of the 20th Century’s most important issues like the Second World War, Vietnam, a dangerous Soviet Union and Cold War, HIV/AIDS, and at the tail end of her life, climate change, COVID-19 and Eastern European conflict. She has seen the best and worst of many of us. God bless her soul as she transitions.
We pledge support to the new King Charles III.
