Yes, friends, we are running the TropicSpin again. Our music and song competition for the region. We really believe in the exposure it can bring to artists around the region.
But, some things are going to change about it. We are going to change how winners are selected. We will still ask for viewers to vote on the one they like the most, but we will also have a board behind the scenes to ensure that garbage entries do not win.
We also had to decrease the prize money down to $500. It really should not be about the winnings, in any event. You should want the exposure and the machine that is Arawak Media behind you. The money will go, but your name in people’s minds for a long time is priceless.
Running the Caribbean Magazine Plus and its parent company, Arawak Media, is not easy. We’re finding out fully why Caribbean artisans complain so much about the lack of support they get from the wider community.
People give you a lot of talk, but at the end of the day, want to nickel and dime you, all the same while they use your intellectual property without even giving you an acknowledgement. We understand you.
But, regardless of all of that, we must press on. We have a mega star, or two, to find in the Caribbean and Central American region. We will find the next big star. We just have to work a little harder and a little smarter.
Mr. Kemp, I wish you much success in this new music and singing project. All Caribbean artists are invited to take advantage of the support of Caribbean Magazine Plus and Arawak Media, just as I obtained it in 2022 with the CARIBBEAN MAGAZINE PLUS POETRY CONTEST, in which I was favored with 1st. Place. For all my Central American and Caribbean brothers, good luck in this music festival: may the roots of Caribbean art emerge. Good luck to those who take advantage of this platform and can project themselves into the future. Happy weekend. Raúl Ignacio José Arana Irías, Nicaraguan Poet.
