The end of 2021 may break records in travel and tourism as Americans begin to travel to the Caribbean in record numbers. The COVID-19 vaccinations are happening at a record clip in the US. They have the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines. They have discarded the AstraZeneca vaccine due to the side effect issues, which I think is just them being pro-American as the first three vaccines are American and the AstraZeneca is a British vaccine. (But this is just my theory)
Things are so good with America vaccinations that they are willing to share their stockpiles of AstraZeneca with the poor, developing nations. How big of them.
Anyway, just keep vaccinating your people so they can travel, please. We need them with that extra money to spend in these resorts around the region because we are hurting.
But Caribbean countries have to be ready. Already tourists are pouring into several jurisdictions, even more so with the countries that have said that all vaccinated visitors don’t have to take the COVID-19 tests or quarantine.
The thing is now that these islands have been shut down for so long now that restarting the tourism engine to be prepared for a full blast of visitors may be too much for them to handle all at once. Think about it, airports have been scarcely used so things like terminals, walkways and other features of a regular airport may all need testing. Taxi cab drivers may have been on furlough and you have to pull them away from other jobs they may have taken up during the downtime. Restaurants have been preparing meals for 5 people on a Friday night, maybe, but now they have to prepare for 40 every two hours. Things like this need to be taken into consideration.
I wish us all well.
