EDITORIAL: Violence in elections are never needed

November 16, 2021

The Honduras elections are getting violent. There is no need for it, but this is how serious the inequality has become.

There is only so much a developing country can take especially when the citizens understand their government to be a part of the solution or problem.

In Honduras leading up to their November 28 General Election, we have a mayor assassinated and a presidential candidate wanted for drug and guns charges. God knows what else is happening on the ground with the regular supporters, it has to be a real touchy time.

The Marxists are back screaming their anti-capitalist rhetoric in Honduras as well. We all know the US doesn’t take kindly to the Marxist movement, and any threat to the capitalist system will bring about certain repercussions to the fool that tries to battle the US multinational corporations.

Yet still, we pray for peace. We need for people to be able to enjoy their country, not kill each other over it. Politics should not be that serious. Important, yes. But not that serious.

Truth be told, half of the time you are going above and beyond for a cause, the leader behind that cause doesn’t even know the small time supporters like you exist.

The political leaders need not to be placed in a position where they even think about violence being a part of the political process. While they may have detestable attitudes towards public service, people should have an opportunity to vote them out.
