This is a “step back” editorial. We tend to do these from time to time, not focus on anything topical but ask our readers to take a look at their personal surroundings and do a bit better job. We find it a part of our mission here at CMP.
But, what more can you do this Lenten season? Have you done anything? We can admit we have not done anything ourselves at CMP, and was just prompted by the devotional by Fr DeAngelo Bowe of Holy Spirit Anglican Church The Bahamas, to do more. *Looking puzzled, we said to ourselves: Well, we haven’t done a thing…*
Anyway we not doing anything won’t stop us from getting on our high horse and looking down on you mere mortals and asking you to do more. (Yes, we are high and mighty at times aren’t we?)
I know the religious folks say that you are supposed to subtract something from your daily routine, something that takes your mind and heart away from Christ our Lord and Saviour. Others have now been asking people to do more of something good and positive, this is becoming more fashionable nowadays. (We didn’t even know that we could add something. That makes this solemn season of observance a little less stressful as it adds more to the arsenal of our penitence and religiosity), shows you what type of Christians we are, doesn’t it? We are dirty rags as the good book says, unworthy or salvation but the good Lord grants it to us anyway because he loves us.
But, back to the topic- What can you add? I think this should be taken seriously as we need to take these other religious seasons more seriously and not just Christmas and Easter- even though the Lenten season is the lead up to the Easter services and observances.
We dare not tell you what we plan to give up or add, it is between me and my God. But I can tell you that his word is true and his mercy endures forever. I have found no fault in following the guidebook of the Bible.
So, we will try to do more. Amen!
