EDITORIAL: We knew the Kenyan assistance in Haiti would have problems

September 13, 2024

This is what we feared. The multinational force in Haiti led by Kenya is faltering. Reports have it that they lack funding and that is causing a lowering of morale in the troops.

What we hope is that the Kenyan troops don’t defect to the Haitian rebel side, which would be par for the course for the madness in Haiti.

From the onset the Kenyan government said they needed over $100 million, most- if not all of it- was pledged by the US already. The Kenyan military has gotten, reportedly, over $85 million of that. They clearly need more.

We hope Haiti should not remain eternally damned. We pray Canada and the European Union come up with a few more dollars to assist the US in this effort. We also pray that other forces from around the world chip in and help stabilize Haiti. The people have suffered enough.
