They often say music soothes the savage beast, we agree. Music is also refreshing to the soul and a “good chune” can lift anyone’s spirits.
This is what this pandemic needs right now, to be set to some awesome music. Caribbean style rhythms. We make soca, reggae, calypso and rake n’ scrape music out of much less.
Where are all of the pandemic songs? Are all of our musicians being beaten out by the internet comedians? We see the comedians in masses these days. Everyone has a meme. But as said, where is the music to commemorate our days on lockdown and watching people flood the hospitals with the COVID-19. Surely someone has a good song in them- Machel, Iwer, Allison Hinds, KB, someone? Anyone?
To think of it the Caribbean Export Development Agency is doing so much for recording artists these days, even more than the fashion designers and writers. Because they believe in you.
Me on the other hand, I just want some good music to enjoy. At least give us that?
As we have said already, we are planning a massive music showcase for the early part of 2022. All virtually. We can call the shot because we know we can do it. Someone else can rush to do something, we don’t care- the more the merrier. WE just want to do our part for the culture. Stay tuned.
But please, for God’s sake, make us a COVID-19 calypso nuh? Chuh!
