EDITORIAL: We’re coming down the home stretch of 2021

August 20, 2021

Soon it will be Christmas time again. This 2021 went by quickly, didn’t it? We are in August bearing down on September, which is approaching quickly. Schools are soon let back in and the Fall will officially start.

The COVID-19, while still with the world, is beginning to wane off of people’s minds despite the sickness and the mass hospitalisations. You see? If it doesn’t hit a human directly, they tend to push it out of their mind and get back to their own personal lives.

We too at Caribbean Magazine Plus can’t let no coronavirus hold us back. We have things to do. Lots of things to do. We have contest upon contest and hot ticket items to follow in the region, so much so that we feel we may be hiring a contributor, at least part time.

We are growing surely as our scope is continually widening and the people who read are becoming more active in our reporting and coverage. They are what drives our machine. As small as it is, we endeavour to make a big impact.

But, back to the end of year. Did you waste 2021 whining and moaning about the virus? About lost loved ones? While I empathize, I must remind you what the good Lord said and that is to: Let the dead bury the dead and fix your eyes on him and the Father. You can’t go wrong.

We see some people didn’t decide to waste their 2021. We have a little girl out of Trinidad and Tobago who published two books during her lockdown stint. What did you grownups do? Whine and complain probably.

We have to come out of this COVID-19 break stronger, better and with new skills and abilities. God gave his glorious world a pause button so it can regenerate and things can become new. Don’t you see it? If you are still with us you are blessed and highly favoured and you should act like it.

Don’t waste the remaining moments of this 2021. Use all of it.
