EDITORIAL: Why is Meghan Markle upsetting our Queen?

Well, I guess it is all over the news and Oprah that Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, thinks some members of the Royal Family are racist.

She said some members have made remarks about her and her baby with her husband Prince Harry, and what colour their son, Archie of Mountbatten, may turn out.

Well, what did she expect from European Royal family members. A family that she married into. These people have been at the apex of world power for over 400 years now. Her husband is no saint either, with him having worn Nazi paraphernalia and all at a Halloween costume party just a few short years ago.

We in the Commonwealth Caribbean have no illusions about White European aristocrats, but what we do have an illusion about is self-interested, narcissistic Black American celebrities. Well, American celebrities in general.

You see, we didn’t need the Duchess to come out of nowhere to tell us what we already had a feeling. We also don’t need her upsetting our Queen either. Especially for a cheap segment for Oprah’s television.

That’s all people like the Duchess only care about; How do I get myself in the centre of attention? She would drag our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ into her web of attention whoring- Yes she would.

But most of us Negroes on this side of the world would look at this differently and call her blatant dullness as strength and the character of a strong black woman. Give me a break!

I know she was going to make a mockery of the Royal family for her cheap attention seeking self the minute she got Harry to denounce his lineage and royal title- I said, oh yea, here we go. But Harry is a grown man and he apparently likes his wife. But we don’t have to like her behaviour for what it is- self-seeking, attention whoring, shallow, vain and socially oblivious to situations and circumstances. There is a bit of class that goes with this too. Situations like this is why the Royal family has strict rules on who the family marries or brings into the circle- the royals are not perfect, but that does not mean everything with them is still not sacred.

That’s what this world is lacking these days, things to hold sacred and a bit of class. Two things the Duchess has none of. But what do we expect from a B-rate American starlet? I have so little respect for American “celebrities” that  I would say right now that I would not be surprised if she got caught up in a love triangle with Prince Harry and the rapper Future and then pull a “Red Table Talk” moment like Will and Jada and call it an “entanglement,”- Then go on CNN to tell the world about it.

I may get pilloried for this. I don’t care. It is what it is. I’m not even defending the Queen to any large extent either. This thing just goes with decency and the Duchess has very little of it at this point.
