Any nation that did business with the Nicolas Maduro regime in Venezuela was foolish, at best. The regime was not only unstable but was never in the good graces of the global power elite. No one trusted how the regime was constituted. There was nothing that suggests we could trust its long term viability.
Now, the Donald Trump administration is clamping down on not just the Maduro regime, but are clamping down on anyone that is doing business with it. That is a huge step. We know of sanctions against wayward regimes, but never an explicit threat of retaliatory measures aimed at any country that does business with the wayward nation in question.
If you were dependent on Venezuelan oil you had better deal with the Saudi’s now if you can. Trump is not messing about this lap. There will be a realignment of America’s geopolitical power and it will be a reckoning for all and sundry.
The day has come.
