Multi-awarded chef and culinary personality Noel Cunningham, an acclaimed chef from Kingston, Jamaica, is bringing a taste of Jamaica to the Toronto Food and Drink Fest 2024, showcasing Jamaica’s rich and diverse cuisine presented by Sunwing Vacations and the Jamaica Tourist Board, which will take place at the Metro Convention Centre, Downtown Toronto, from April 5-7.
The T.O. Food & Drink Festival is a three-day festival in Toronto that celebrates everything from delicious cuisine to innovative cocktails, the city’s best chefs, restaurants, wines, breweries, and live music. The Chef’s Stage is the festival’s heart, where attendees can watch the best local and celebrity chefs create exquisite meals live on stage. The festival promises to be an unforgettable event, with a lineup of magical gastronomy experiences and an incredible atmosphere.
Chef Noel promises to grant each patron a Jamaican experience as he explores the gastronomic landscape to reveal its greatest treasures in herbs, spices and other curated flavours. Noel’s skills were honed in Jamaica, and he did his upskilling in Canada. Upon his arrival in Toronto, Chef Noel wasted no time immersing himself in the local culinary community. He quickly gained recognition for his culinary skills, blending traditional Caribbean flavours with contemporary techniques and presentation. His passion for using fresh, locally sourced ingredients shines through in his dishes, creating a harmonious fusion of flavours that transports diners to the sun-soaked beaches of the Caribbean.

Chef Noel’s skills will be on display all weekend as he is set to kick-start the chef stage on Friday at 4 p.m. with his hand-crafted ackee and saltfish croquet, a take on the national dish, during the special preview for the food & drink industry, Media and VIP’s hour. He will also appear on Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. and will be closing the chef stage at 4 p.m.
Beyond his culinary creations, Noel is known for his warm and engaging personality. He takes pride in sharing the stories behind his recipes and educating diners about the cultural significance and history of Caribbean cuisine through his cooking demonstrations and appearances on television shows, food festivals, and his debut cookbook. Chef Noel aims to inspire others to embrace the flavours and traditions of the Caribbean.
