“Keira and Jaime Discovers A Musical Dream” charts on Apple Books

February 4, 2025

Jenelle Alexia achieves another landmark as her second children’s book in the Keira series has charted on the Apple Books Kids Chart. The highly anticipated book titled Keira and Jaime Discovers A Musical Dream was released on January 20, 2025, almost 2 years after the first installment Keira Discovers Her Talent.

Following the success of her first children’s book, which peaked at number 4 after its release in March 2023, Jenelle Alexia is pleased and grateful with the performance of her books. This is propelling her to amp up the intent to do a school book tour in Jamaica. The Philadelphia-based fashion designer turned author is hoping to organize this for May, known as Child’s Month.

Jenelle Alexia is planning to make appearances across various schools, present the books, have special reading sessions, donate copies of the books and have them on sale at reduced rates as well. Her intent is to erase the “dunce” culture that’s prevalent among Jamaica’s youth. On a recent trip to the island, Jenelle Alexia has voiced her displeasure at what is being promoted as good in our music. She was a guest on Suncity 104.9FM in Portmore, Fame 95FM and Smile Jamaica on TVJ in Kingston.

The common theme throughout her visit was promoting literacy through her books and following one’s dreams, despite the naysayers and obstacles.

“Everyone is pushing this dunce culture. The books are here to really inspire the parents to read to their children,” Jenelle Alexia told Fame FM.

“The book is basically teaching about the importance of friendship, being resilient and of course not listening to people who are being discouraging. It’s a lot of valuable lessons,” she told Suncity FM.

On Smile Jamaica, Neville Bell asked Jenelle Alexia what inspired her to write this book and her response was:

“I used to work in a school and just interacting with the children I see that sometimes a lot of things start in the home so they always look for someone else to give them some type of inspiration or motivation, like a role model, and I was like, ‘Hey, why not just put everything I know into a book and turn everything around?’ So that way it inspires parents to read to their children and gives the children the opportunity to say, ‘Hey, if they can do it, I can do the same thing.'”
