Arawak Media is pleased to announce the winners of its first TropicSpin Music and Song Competition.
Best solo artist: Janine “JKuhl” Coombs from Jamaica with her entry “Coffee.” JKuhl told Caribbean Magazine Plus, “I feel like one of the World Championship winners in track and field. I’m so happy to have won.”
Best group: Ghetto Crew Feat. Queen Tifa from Suriname with their entry “N’e Srib’ a Oso.” Queen Tifa said, “I know winning this will launch my career. I’m so blessed because where I’m from we are a poor country so any exposure I can get I am grateful.”
These were the best out of 26 artists from all over the Caribbean and Central America that had their music showcased on the Caribbean Magazine Platform this past Saturday night. We congratulate them. Arawak Media and Caribbean Magazine Plus was more than pleased to create the opportunity and the prize money. Jkuhl will receive $1,500 for her first place solo artist finish and Ghetto Crew and Queen Tifa will recive $3,000 for the best group, which we hope will go a long way in helping them to create more music.
