Opening Ceremony, High Level Advocacy Forum on Statistics

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat will host the Fourth High-Level Advocacy Forum on Statistics in Placencia, Belize, on Monday 4 November 2024. The theme of the Forum is ‘Strengthening Statistics through the Regional Strategy for the Development of Statistics for a Resilient Caribbean Community’.

The one-day Forum will bring together policy-makers, government ministers, stakeholders in regional statistics including representatives of national statistics offices, and users of statistics. Through panel discussions, the participants will examine the importance of statistics in sustainable national and regional development; the impact of technological advancements on the sector; the progress of the Regional Strategy for the Development of Statistics (RSDS); and the political commitment to action plans on statistics, among other topics.
 

Speakers at the opening ceremony will include the Hon. John Briceno, Prime Minister of Belize; Dr. Armstrong Alexis, CARICOM Deputy Secretary-General and other stakeholders.
 

The opening ceremony will officially launch a series of events in Belize that focus on statistics, which include:

  • The CARICOM Population and Housing Census Symposium – 5 November
  • The Forty-Ninth Meeting of the Standing Committee of Caribbean Statisticians – 6-7 November
  • The Fourteenth CARICOM Regional Research Seminar – 8 November
