Royal Caribbean Cruise Line is changing the game on innovative cruise destinations as it gears up for the launch of its new Icon Class ship, Icon of the Seas.
The Icon of the Seas will launch on June 27, 2024, which will be the newest flagship for the RCCL brand said, Jay Schneider, RCCL’s Chief Product Innovation Officer, at an event in New Providence, Bahamas.
The Icon will be outfitted with the latest technology for cruise liners money can buy. RCCL has stopped at nothing to ensure that the new ship will be the most innovative ship, with all new amenities crafted in their innovations lad in Miami, Florida.
Mr Schneider highlighted the new technology RCCL is working on. For example, a new customer service that will feature a “high touch, guest service model,” as well as a “chat with guests” feature in an effort to remove some of the “lazy friction.”
High-touch service refers to a hands-on, personalized approach to customer service. Examples of high-touch support include a guided onboarding process, a dedicated customer success manager for each client account, and individual strategy sessions.
RCCL is pulling out all of the stops when it comes to reducing wait times for its passengers and having their staff more involved in their passengers’ experiences. Mr Schneider also said: “We’re introducing a new piece of tech experience, we haven’t really released it yet, it’s called the Pearl, it’ll be really the arrival moment for Icon of the Seas.”
The Pearl, a unique sphere-shaped structure spanning Decks 5-8, midship. “The fun part about it is all of these panels move. There’s actually 3500 of them surrounding you in a in an oval, as you walk through essentially a Spanish staircase. But the fun part about it is because it’s new technology and it’s really novel technology,” Mr Schneider said.
