Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr Keith Rowley, underwent angioplasty over the weekend and is back home.
Dr Rowley was rushed to the hospital after an episode on Friday where it was found his heart condition had worsened and he needed immediate care.
Dr Rowley has had heart issues before. In March 2019, he travelled to the United States for heart tests, noting that doctors in 2016 had observed soft plaque developing in one of his arteries.
He said then the situation was thought to have worsened in 2017.
Posted on Dr Rowley’s personal Twitter page, the last post said that the prime minister was about to have a press conference on January, 9. But it is clear that did not happen as he was in hospital.
A Facebook message from the Office of the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago said on Sunday that they are “pleased to advise that Prime Minister, Dr the Hon. Keith Rowley has been discharged from West Shore Medical Hospital and is now at home resting comfortably.”
“The Prime Minister was assessed by his doctors this morning and given the all clear to return home.”
“We thank all those who sent messages of well wishes and kept the Prime Minister in their prayers.”
We too wish Prime Minister Rowley all the best!
