Unifeeder Group, one of the main multi-regional container and feeder operating companies, settled in Panama to continue its expansion in Latin America (LATAM) from here, promoting trade and economic growth in the region.
The company reported that the new Panama team will support Unifeeder’s business units in LATAM, in close coordination with the headquarters in Aarhus, Denmark. Unifeeder will handle more than 200,000 twenty-foot containers (TEUs) and complete 800 port calls in the region in 2024, with plans to further develop its operations in LATAM in the coming years.
Unifeeder is a leading multi-region container and feeder operator, moving goods to and from smaller ports to hub ports for onward transport. It is a core part of DP World, serving hundreds of ports in Europe, Asia, the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas.
Unifeeder’s latest expansion across LATAM began in 2023, as part of its strategic focus on the Americas as an important location for regional and global trade. The current routes are as follows: March 2023, the Hispaniola-Puerto Rico service was launched to increase cargo flow between the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Puerto Rico.
February 2024, a new Colombia-Panama service was started, to benefit exporters of sensitive products, such as fresh fruit, including bananas. It offers containerized cargo between the northern Colombian ports of Turbo, Santa Marta, Cartagena, Barranquilla and Manzanillo in Panama.
In April 2024, new direct feeder services began connecting ports in Venezuela with the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao), offering competitive transit time and schedule reliability, while accommodating containers of all types. and sizes. The first service connects Manzanillo in Panama with Oranjestad in Aruba and Willemstad in Curaçao. A second service connects Manzanillo and Cartagena in Colombia with three ports in Venezuela: Maracaibo, Guanta and Guaranao.
